Director of Body Elite Physical Therapy

In 2001, Karie received her Masters in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University. In 2003 she opened Body Elite Physical Therapy in order to begin the realization of her dream to offer quality orthopedic care to the people of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.  Karie then completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2004.

Karie understands that medical education is an ongoing process and, as such, continues to supplement her university education with courses that include:

  • Maitland manual therapy of spine and peripheral joints,
  • myofascial release,
  • Stott Pilates rehab for spine and shoulder,
  • the pelvic rotator cuff,
  • low back and chronic pain syndromes,
  • obesity,
  • core stabilization,
  • pelvic pain and dysautonomia,
  • pelvic girdle dysfunction,
  • post partum care,
  • osteoporosis, and
  • comprehensive treatment of the shoulder

Karie is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Orthopedic section, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. She is also certified in CPR and is a credentialed clinical instructor.

Karie and her husband are kept busy with their two young daughters and two dogs.

Kara M. Prato, PT, DPT

Licensed Physical Therapist

Kara received her doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University.
She has an interest in sacro-iliac joint and spinal dysfunctions.  She plans to pursue a certification in manual therapy.

She is a member of the APTA and is CPR certified.

Personal:

She enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with friends and family.
She and her husband have two dogs and a cat.

Bethany A. Kirby, PT, DPT

Bethany A. Kirby, PT, DPT

Licensed Physical Therapist

Bethany received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University.

She has significant clinical experience utilizing manual therapy techniques and working with a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including low back pain, neck pain, on the job injuries, and return to work rehabilitation.

She is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Orthopedic Section of the APTA and is CPR certified.

Both Bethany and her husband grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and are glad to be settled in Virginia once again after having lived in Boston and the Washington, DC area for several years.  Bethany enjoys hiking and the outdoors, gardening, reading, running, and spending time with her family and their dogs.

Bonnie Myers

Bonnie Myers

Office Coordinator

Bonnie retired from Bell Atlantic telephone company.  She then worked in retail customer service until joining Body Elite in 2006.  She is active in her church and teaches Sunday school for 5 year olds.  She is proud of her two sons and seven beautiful grandchildren.  She keeps busy attending all the grandkids sports/activities.  She and her husband enjoy spending time together and traveling in their convertible.

Bonnie not only schedules patients and calls insurance companies, she has many other important jobs around the office.  She is a wonderful help when patients bring their children with them but most importantly she puts patients at ease the minute they walk through the door.  Her speciality is taking patients' minds off their pain.
